Amazon.co.uk Review
Based on the hugely successful 35 mm Mju range, the Mju 300 Digital
takes the styling that we all know and love (over 20 million sold
worldwide) and brings it into the 21st century.
On the inside, Olympus's heritage in optics shines through once again
as the camera boasts a superb, high precision f3.1/5.2 3x optical and 5x
digital zoom (equivalent to 35-105 mm on a 35 mm camera).
On the outside, the camera has a 1.5", 134,000 pixel LCD monitor. The
camera also includes a lithium-ion rechargeable battery and Olympus's
new xD-Picture card technology. To protect everything the camera is
cased in a brushed metal that doubles up to offer weatherproofing. Now
you can take your camera to the beach or the piste without fear of water
getting in.
The Mju 300 digital also boasts the usual array of user-friendly
buttons and options for the beginner. A range of automatic functions
such as TTL autofocus and Digital ESP (Electro Selective Pattern) light
metering help ensure best results with the minimum of fuss. Using the
five scene programs (portrait, self-portrait, night scene, landscape,
landscape plus portrait), means that even first-time digital
photographers are able to obtain impressive photos.
The camera supports full auto white balance and four pre-set white
balance modes, allowing users to manually optimise the camera for
shooting in light from sources such as tungsten or fluorescent bulbs.
The camera also features a host of other functions and features
including macro and panorama modes, 2-in-1 shooting, the recording of
short movie sequences and a built-in flash with red-eye reduction.
The Mju Digital from Olympus is a camera that you would not only want
to be seen with, but also want to use when no-one else is around. For
the fashion conscious who want to take decent digital images this is the
camera to have. --Jason Denwood

I can't think of many faults with this camera and if I do then it
would probably be nit picking. This is my first digital. I have some
knowledge of cameras, but I wanted a good 'point and shoot'.
This is a compact (for throwing in handbag), light (for carrying in
handbag with all the other rubbish), simple to use (for impatient me! -
without waiting to read the instructions i had it charged up, taking
photos and even down loading them on my PC...) and the results were
brillant.
It has taken good pictures, outside, inside, macro. I like being able
to view the pictures on the TV (my children love this) and not having to
go to all the hassle of booting up the PC.
My slight disapointment,as with all digitals, is the delay from
taking the photo to the 'shutter' - although I think in time I will have
to learn to anticapate alot of action shots.
The software that came with it is good, although basic. I think that
it speaks volumes that I am not very good with computers etc, but this
was easy to install and loading from the camera was automatic -
fantastic!
A few people may find the buttons on the back a bit fiddlely. I have
only a slight concern about the 'connector cover' door at the side. Tiny
push down latch on the door - but stick with it.
The price on amazon is amazing and i feel that you will not be able
to find such a high quailty, easy to use and value for money camera. I
wanted a good compact camera to take wonderful photographs, to store all
the memories and print out, in the highest 35mm film standard, the best
photographs of the lot. Job done!

I was looking for a Digital Camera for about a month I read ever
online write up ever what or which magazine just got really frustrated,
no two write ups rated the same camera. In the end I knew I wanted at
3mp and a 3x optical Zoom I also wanted a name that's been making
quality cameras for many years so that's one of the top four which one.
A shop keeper rated the Cannon A70 but one of the online complaints was
soft picture outlines the subject has to be still ( there goes the kids
sports day) the Nikon has a short battery life problem so that was out
the Pentax almost won but my recommendation is go to a camera shop feel
the cameras and you will buy the Olympus Mju 300/400, ( not from them
though they are too expensive buy it from hear) it feels like it will
last forever no plastic just quality and the name on the front does this
changing colour thing as the light reflexs off of it, very flash.
It's easy to use takes about 30 minutes to know your way around and that
includes reading time it has a weather proof case the software for the
computer is simple, Oh, and the pictures are fantastic.

I needed a digital camera that was worthy of 'PPP' Point - Press &
Pray. I already own a larger and bulkier digital SLR so it was really
between this camera, the Ixus and the pentax optio. I plumped for this
one with its rugged and metalised body.
The images are clear, sharp and great if you are looking for
something that is just so easy to use its a dream.
So many cameras to choose from nowadays, but I cant praise olympus
enough for the Mju 300. Excellent value !

Unfortunately I did not buy from Amazon BUT I would recommend this
camera to experienced and inexperienced photographers. We have also
purchased an underwater case as my husband and I are keen scuba divers.
We have just had our photo's printed and they are great.
